Poetry on Loan forges ahead with two more years' funding from ACE

Poetry on Loan had some excellent news earlier this year - Arts Council England have granted our application for funding for the next two years. This means that we can continue to provide access to contemporary poetry through public libraries in the west Midlands, as we have done for 18 years now.

We have two main themes:
young people
series of workshops leading to book / performance / video.

We will of course still support live performances and readings, direct engagement activities, Young Poet Laureate schemes, and training sessions for library staff and poets. Our 2017 poetry competition is open for entries (see Competitions page) and the poems for our new set of postcards have been selected. The theme for the postcards and the competition is Onwards, upwards, freedom.

Some of our workshop series have already started, and we've had a number of events, in Solihull, Herefordshire, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Stoke. Coming up we'll be seeing Tony Walsh (poem for Manchester fame) at Stoke, and performance workshops in Wolverhampton. We usually have a bit of a pause during the summer, but autumn promises to be very busy!
