Poetry Happening Near You

Happy National Poetry Day!

It's all happening this week!

Today is National Poetry Day - I hope it's been good for you, and full of lots of poetic stuff.

It's a really busy time for Poetry on Loan. We announced the winners today of our 2017 poetry competition. It was a delight to find that the winning adult entry, by Bert Flitcroft, is called Off, and Hazel Cook's winning junior entry is title On.

Not only that, but our poetry postcards and accompanying posters have been distributed to libraries this week. We are really pleased with them; the beautiful designs by Gregory Fisk show the poems at their best.

And we have events coming up. Tony Walsh (Manchester poet) will be at City Central library in Stoke on Friday 29th September; all the postcard poets will be reading at the launch event in Kenilworth library on 5th October; and there are more to come later in the autumn.

I've been reading new poetry collections by Jonny Fluffypunk and Fergus McGonigal, two of our best-loved Poetry on Loan poets. What have you been reading?
