Poetry Happening Near You

Enter here and now

The 2016 Poetry on Loan poetry competition has been launched!

Following the success of our 2014 and 2015 poetry competitions, we are going to keep it going. This year's competition has launched, and already we have some good entries - but can you do better? The theme is Now and then - which you can interpet in any way you like. Look at the Competiton page for full details, and make sure you get your entries in by 1st September 2016.

Meanwhile, we've got some great events lined up, even though many library staff are busy over the summer with the Summer Reading Challenge.

Liz Berry will be at Walsall Central Library on 29th July; Emma Purshouse will be hosting a City Voices open mic event in Stoke on 7th September. In October, we will have the postcard poets in two libraries in Walsall, Bert Flitcroft in Stoke, the Nailmakers' Daughters in Dudley, Mark Blayney and Brenda Read-Brown in Stoke - and on 22nd October, Brian Patten, in Ludlow and Worcester!

And our recommended poetry book list is now with the designer, Greg Fisk, who will no doubt produce for us a lovely leaflet that you can use to decide on your forthcoming poetry reading. It will be in your library by National Poetry Day.

Meanwhile, enjoy your summer, read lots of poetry - and write your own poem for our competition...
