PoL has a new Co-ordinator!

Brenda Read-Brown is stepping down from her role as Poetry on Loan Co-ordinator.

Brenda Read-Brown has been Poetry on Loan Co-ordinator for fourteen years, after taking over from Jonathan Davidson. Brenda says, "I love this job! But time is moving on, and there other things I want to do, so I need to hand it over to someone else."

After a rigorous recruitment procedure, we are delighted to announce that Brenda's successor in the role will actually be two people, well-known local poets Emma Purshouse and Steve Pottinger. Both Emma and Steve are very familiar with Poetry on Loan and how it works - they have both been Poetry on Loan poets for a long time - and coupled with their organisational skills and knowledge of poetry in the West Midlands, this makes them ideal for the job. Steve says,

“We’re absolutely delighted to have been handed the responsibility of taking Poetry on Loan forward over the next few years. Brenda Read-Brown has done an outstanding job as co-ordinator, and we’ve big shoes to fill, but we’re looking forward to working closely with library services – and poets, of course – across the West Midlands to continue to bring the best in poetry to venues and communities throughout our region.”

It won't be an overnight handover. Steve and Emma will be working alongside Brenda during the summer with a view to taking over completely in the autumn.
